A great start to the Fringe on Saturday. Or Friday night, depending on how you look at it!
It all started for me at 01.00 when I was performing at Sian Davies’ wonderful ‘ComedyQueers’ night over at the Counting House. The room was absolutely packed – the first time I’ve ever had to climb over audience members to make it on to the stage! Can you imagine that!?
It was a great audience, all the right side of pished, who offered big laughs to each of the five acts performing. A top night and one I’d happily play again at the drop of a hat!
Saturday evening we began my solo show…. Flyering on the Mile beforehand was both a challenge and also fun! I was ably-assisted by my life partner in crime (you know, the dirty immigrant I live/love with!)… He’s clearly much better at this flyering malarky than I!
And what of the show? Well, I had a lovely full room, filled with people who were all up for a laugh. A lovely couple of Americans who voted neither Trump nor Clinton based on what they said (surely they’re part of the problem then!!!)! We had the Scousers now living in Wigan (talk about downgrading in life!)… The fabulously classy lassie from the not so classy Nottingham (she really did add a bit of glamour to the room)… Debbie from Scunthorpe (not to be confused with the Debbie in my show from Fatbusters)… Oh and the Brexit voter on the front row – even she hadn’t known why she voted for it!!
As far as a Fringe debut goes, I don’t think it could have got much better than this!
Time for a nap before day two can get going…
